In 1996, Kurt took a unique opportunity to work with a close friend joining him in his architectural practice.
They worked quietly, under the radar turning out some of the country's finest luxury homes in places like Aspen
& Vail Colorado, Naples & Sarasota Florida and even the Hamptons & Westchester NY. An interesting project
brought him back to the shipyards when a client requested a re-design of the interior of a new yacht.

k beckman design inc. was formed in 2004 following a move to Sydney Australia with his wife. New projects
continued to come primarily from the USA for many years, but eventually shifted eastward to Australia and
more recently, India and Africa. A sabbatical in the USA allowed him to embark on an ambitious personal
renovation project of a Victorian home in Wisconsin showcasing the benefits of recycling.

America, Australia and India. His passion for architecture began as early as 1979, when he earned a
service roll in an AIA Architectural firm. Shortly thereafter he worked on road and residential
construction sites. In 1988, with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin, he
developed the 3400 Series Marine Diesel Engine family in the role of Senior Design Engineer for
Caterpillar Inc. His final project with the company introduced the award-winning 3406E High
Performance Pleasure craft engine for luxury yachts (pictured). The engine was designed to be as
good looking as it was powerful and quickly became the industry standard.

At present, Kurt lives in Singapore with his wife and three children. He has also lived in Sydney Australia, Beijing China and the
